The AF Demi Diamond Monitor is a versatile, hanging flying insect monitoring station made of transparent, durable plastic. Several entrances allow insects to enter the monitor easily. The trap itself doesn't contain any insect attractant. Larvae, on the other hand, do not respond to these pheromones, as they primarily serve to attract mating partners. To monitor or control larvae, neutral adhesive traps (e.g., LUREKING LOWLINE 110705-K) can be used as a supplementary measure. However, larvae only enter these traps by chance, making any captures purely incidental. Female carpet beetles lay their tiny (approx. 0.5 mm), whitish eggs in dark, protected areas near food sources for the larvae. After a few days to several weeks, the larvae hatch and feed on organic materials such as wool, fur, feathers, or other animal-based products. The larvae are the actual pests, as they cause significant damage to textiles, museum collections, and stored food products. Effective control requires targeted cleaning of infested areas, particularly cracks, crevices, and dark spaces.
